In this role, you will collaborate with a group of assigned skilled nursing facilities to provide clinical oversight, direction, and support. Key to this role is evaluating clinical operations to ensure the delivery of quality resident care and ensuring compliance with all federal and state standards and regulations. It is expected that you be an expert in and supportive of the Resident Bill of Rights and related skilled nursing facility policies.


  • Implement standards of nursing practice through the formulation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with new CMS “Requirements of Participation” within skilled nursing facilities.
  • Assess work performance in terms of compliance with standards of resident care.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate efforts and resolve clinical operational problems.
  • Investigate and document complaints.
  • Provide consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
  • Recommend improvements to current practices, provide input into overall clinical operations, and suggest actions designed to assist in the attainment of organizational goals.
  • Introduce new techniques, and address areas of deficiencies.
  • Recommend and participate in educational in-service programs.
  • Participate in the quality assurance program.
  • Audit electronic medical records.
  • Review 24-incident hour reports for appropriateness and follow-through, and ensure the completion of all required reports.
  • Support and assist Administrator and Director of Residential Services with all self-reportable complaints and complaint investigations.
  • Instruct licensed staff regarding the skilled care process and function as a resource for clinical issues.
  • Participate and provide on-site clinical support during state annual survey and state re-survey process.
  • Conduct bi-annual state survey “Mock Survey” within all skilled nursing facilities.
  • Document facility visits and findings through monthly report to Administrator, Director of Residential Care and SVP/COO-Senior Services.
  • Assist facilities in writing and reviewing Plans of Correction.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) for the Point Click Care software system.



  • Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or higher preferred.
  • A superior level of knowledge in nursing in order to manage resident care.
  • Current license to practice as an RN in Michigan; current CPR certification.
  • Ability to obtain Michigan Nursing Home Administrator license.
  • 5+ years of related experience in a long-term care facility.
