  • Overview

    The Family Assistance Worker will assist families with issues such as parenting, child care, household management, nutrition and budgeting. In addition, the worker will assist supervision by transporting children and supervising interactions between children and their families; monitor, supervise, and coach parents during parenting times. Testifying at court regarding supervised visitation may be necessary.Insert any required credentials

    Responsibilities

    • Assist clients in identifying and remedying impediments to home safety and health of the child
    • Teach appropriate child care techniques to the client including: Personal hygiene; protection from injury in the environment; when to seek medical advice; appropriate diet; non-physical discipline techniques and parenting roles; developing a daily family schedule and/or safe Sleep practices (as appropriate).
    • Assist client in developing housekeeping and money management skills
    • Assist clients in the utilization of community resources, including public assistance, religious networks, health related services, food banks, and any other resources available to the client
    • Schedule visitations and coordinate transportation for visitations, and other required appointments.
    • Monitor, supervise, and coach parents during parenting times.
    • Prepare written case notes, service plans, progress reports, and termination reports in compliance with the contract.
    • Communicate verbally, and in writing when necessary, concerns and/or significant observations regarding clients.
    • Testify in court as necessary related to observations of supervised visitation
    • Provide availability to clients and staff and a flexible work schedule.
    • Transport clients in your own vehicle.
    • Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances
    • Participate in supervision, staff meetings and training programs designated for attendance
    • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

     

    • High school diploma required
    • Two years of experience working with children and families
